Messages & Miracles~ ACIM~ Lesson 44

I read the message for today and I smile♡ I close my eyes♡and I read the message in my mind once again♡ and I smile again-♡
We talk so much about exercise; reinforcing how important exercise is our life to keep us healthy. And it is true. We talk much about nutrition; reinforcing how important good nutrition is to stay healthy. We talk less about education and learning, not truly recognizing the importance of continual education is for our mind. Perhaps we forget that we are meant to always learn and discover, for there is so much out there to learn. Most importantly, I believe, is that we talk rarely about Spirituality, and the  importance it is to our mind, our bodies and our souls.

I find that the best way to begin each day is by taking several deep breaths and going inward, signifying the importance of each breath; taking us back to the place of calm, a place of love, reaching our life force. At this time to also remember what is important and to give thanks. Breath in the good, the plenty, the love; exhale all that is not important, thoughts that do not reflect our authenticity. I, personally, then, focus within to the message of importance for today, always from a place of love.

There are major differences between Religions and Spirituality. I myself have become disheartened with many religious practices. Religions has, for me, become a place of dis-ease. Among other things, Religion is often depicted by the repeating of words. I say 'words' because I truly feel that this is what they have become to many; just words. The words begin to be repeated similar to a young child who has just learned the alphabet. They repeat it over and over without any idea of what they are repeating.

We should be saying these words with a feeling of commitment, acknowledging and reaffirming our faith and love. In my classes I teach that when we say affirmations, it is important to believe them to be true. This may be a slow process, not always true in the beginning, but as we move forward, to find that place that we do begin to believe, and then that belief grows stronger as we discover, learn, and grow in awareness. Often also, the affirmation changes. It changes as we gain insight. Finding what works for each one of us, on an individual basis, is personal; a personal reflection of who we are and what we need.

I know that I have felt this way for many many years and this was one of the reasons that I stopped partaking in many of the religious rituals. I believe in the importance and the significance what we are saying in each word and with every breath. These prayers, as intended, are our formal request for help, or an expression of thanks addressed to God, in a dignified manner. Perhaps, this is what we need to remember.

One of the strongest prayers that we should be doing daily, is one of gratitude. To then ask for the strength and the courage to rediscover and remember who we are, at our core; a Child of God, with God as the light that shines brightly within us all.

When I meditate, I envision the hands of God pouring down upon me, the light flowing through his hands cascading all around and through me; this is the light that flows with love. And on this day, I awaken to today's lesson, number 44, and I smile


A Course in Miracles ~ Lesson 44 ~ God is the light in which I see.

Today we are adding a new dimension onto yesterdays thought. Light reflects life, and is therefore an aspect of creation. Light and life must go together, as different aspects of creation. In order to see, you must recognize that light is within, not without. You do not see outside yourself, making it essential to ignite the light that makes seeing possible. This light is with you always, making vision possible, in every circumstance. This is the importance of remembering and reaffirming each morning. 

Today the lesson shows us how to reach that light. We will use a form of exercise which has been suggested before, and which we will utilize increasingly as we move forward.  This exercise  represents a major goal of mind training. Be patient gentle with yourself, not forcing anything. It's from a place of calm that we most learn.  This training will become accomplished, only through practice and patience if you are to see.

Three practice periods are best for today, each lasting about five minutes (or longer if possible), but only as you feel the time passing along with little or no sense of strain. The form of practice will become natural and easy with training. All exercises have served to assist in training your mind; it is already no longer wholly untrained. You are ready, but even so, you may find that you may encounter resistance. This is because what we are learning to leave behind everything that you may now believe, recognizing that all these thoughts you essential have made up. 

If you can stand aside from the ego by ever so little, you will have no difficulty in recognizing that its opposition and its fears are meaningless. God is the light in which you see and with each lesson, we are building a path to seeing this light and allowing this light to shine from within us.

Begin the practice period by repeating today's idea with your eyes open. Then close them slowly, repeating the idea several times more, and as you do so, sink back into your mind, letting go of every thought or interference, moving past them. Allow your mind to take its natural course. Try to observe your passing thoughts without involvement, and slip quietly by them.

What is necessary in this exercise is a sense of the importance in what you are doing (but, as mentioned previously, this will come with time and patience).  If resistance arises in any form, pause long enough to repeat today's idea, keeping your eyes closed, focusing within on the light.

As you practice this exercise, you will begin (some may at the start) to experience a sense of relaxation. As you move forward, we will begin to feel that you are approaching, and then entering into light. Try to think of light, formless and without limit, as you pass by your thoughts.  Throughout the day repeat the idea often, with eyes open or closed as seems better to you at the time.
